Nothing moves you

griefnaturetimelove

Nothing moves you

No plight is worthy of

Your attention

A heart of stone

Impervious to tears

Seen as weakness

Those on their knees

Burdensome

Faces pressed against a window

Snot-nosed waifs

With dirty habits

A criminal disgrace

Sickness a product

Of poor life choices

Poverty a yardstick

For the workshy

To aim for

Who do you see

When the lights

Go down

Who do you turn to

In the darkness

As the world spins

Erratically

And you stumble

Who reaches out

When the closest hand

Is a clenched fist

A dismissive wave

Will you be missed

In a roll call

Will someone call your name

Seek to find

What has laid you low

When the time comes

Who will lift you up

Unto redemption.
