On the clifftop

naturecitymusicloveidentitysolitude

On the clifftop

Overlooking a silver sea

Too far down to touch

With any sense of wonder

I worried for a moment

But there was no need

She saw me there

Her face grew flushed

The blood rushed up from below

The chiffon

Scalding her neck

Burning her cheeks

Causing her to gasp

And clasp her hands about her head

She was a picture

Of embarrassment

She thought herself alone

Red hair untied about her face

Damp from her exertions

It was then I fell in love

And she in love with me

We dovetailed perfectly

Atop the cliff

Our hands entwined

Our steps aligned

Together we danced

In magic moonlight

Bathed in stardust

Weathered winters

Wreathed in storm clouds

Adjusting to new rhythms

As we moved

Never losing touch

Of the moment

I first saw her

Thankful she saw me

So freely did we blush

When in a humble stumble

Of poignant words

Join her dance

And she, thank god

Said yes.
