Reach out to me

lossnaturecitymusicmemorylove

Reach out to me

I am blind

To reality

It is a truth too far

Lost in your absence

The breath of life

A little weak

To flicker the candle

Carried through the darkness

Of this long night

Rain down on me

Dampen this fire

The heat of it

Melting my heart

Dissolution is no triviality

When the air is so hot

Lungs are a tinder box

How do they continue

To inflate

When every inhalation

Burns itself into memory

Do the alveoli

Dance a figurative

Soft shoe

Keeping the heat off the soul

Bare feet

On hot sand

Shallow gasps

Pitter-patter breathing

A dangerous dalliance

With chance

When the air

Is a sharp knife

Too cool for cats

But something

Needs to break

Before the flame has gone

When all that

Will be left

In the rising

Are the ashes.
