Sentient Bees choose wisely

naturesolitude

Sentient Bees choose wisely

Where they will stop?

Learning from adversity

Avoiding hungry spiders

That may wait to pounce

From under an adjacent leaf

Partially hidden in the shadow

Of a heavily Petalled

Brightly painted plant.

Wily little Bees know

The closest bloom is not always

The most productive

Counting out the empty heads

The de-flowered,

The cross-pollinated

Impregnated swollen seed sacks,

Clever little drones.

The bounty is always better

At the water's edge

Where the wildflowers grow rich and lush

Pollen, a bi-product of fulfilment

Secondary transfer is complete

When brilliant Bees are sated

To return

In greater numbers

Come tomorrow

After roll-call.
