Steal me away

naturemortality

Steal me away

When the lights go down

Escape is only possible

For a moment

On the darkest nights

When the stars blink out

In unison

Like a flame on a candle

In a rainstorm

As shadowed clouds rage

Across the firmament

Rampant horses

A cavalcade

The heavy brigade

Madly charging

Across an airless wasteland

The cruelty

Of a thankless wind

The rumpled bed

A rudderless ship

The room

An air pocket

Below decks

Wild is the thought

Of leaving

Plucked clean away

Caught in the arms

Of Morpheus

Carried on high

If this were a dream

There would be waking

Not a sensation

Of drowning

Lift me up

Steal me away

Before thunder claps

Like an artillery shell

Shaking me out

From under the spell

Of madness

It is a nightmare

The not knowing

How to find heaven

In hell

Even on a clear day

Steal me away.
