Take account of the little things.

naturecitypoliticstimelovemortality

Take account of the little things.

Be ever mindful

Of the power in a soft kiss,

A gentle touch,

The weight of a head

Bowed

And resting

Upon your chest.

The way her eyes

Dance and sparkle,

Like fireflies,

Catching the light

From the sun,

Deepening the magic

When she smiles.

The jokes

She tells so badly

That make you laugh

Because it is her way.

The embarrassment

She feels

For being a little

Too risqué.

Even the apologies she gives

Everyday,

For no reason,

The little things

We can all get wrong

From time to time,

As nobody is perfect,

Although some

Come pretty close.

The soft inflections

That modulate her voice

When she shows interest

In others.

The empathy she feels

So honestly,

Toward those who suffer.

A generosity of spirit

That puts me to shame.

And the joy she gets

From the little things

Some people take for granted,

But somehow transcend

Endings,

And stay with you,

Warm and welcoming,

Forever.
