That some people
That some people
Go through life with nary a care
The way ahead easily read
Their purpose clear
The tasks achievable
In a personable way
Not too much to cause distress
Or ruffle their progress
But I’m not sure about
The truth of this
Whether the facts
Have been verified
Peer reviewed
The results replicated.
Even the smoothest journey
Will hit a pothole
Your reaction is key
Eventually
The road will become
Less, ‘I want to say travelled
But it feels too frosty.’
How we rise to a challenge
Shoulder the burden
Carry the can
May come with practice
When we prevail
The easier it becomes.
The softest skin
Is the first to blister
Resilience is the callus.
It is a pain sometimes
To see the pretty ones
Get the best seats
The preferential treats
Privilege births an expectation
Of success.
But I guess
It is easier to sit at the back
In the cheap seats
Throwing tomatoes
Than to confront the fat wads
Where it hurts
In the full glare
Of the footlights
Centre stage
Tear them off a strip
Emperors new clothes
Laid bare
And see what they make of that.
