How beauteous
citymusicloveidentitymortality
How beauteous
Are the words of a poet
The pleasing taste
Of rhyme
As it melts on the tongue
The rhapsodic delight
Of purity
How can it only be
In the softness
Of a lover’s touch
A beloved voice
The kiss of a paramour
That such elation
In outpouring
As ecstatic as bliss
Can bring us closer
To the revelation
The truth of life
Is in love
Not words
In deeds
Not explanation
There is no condemnation
In the attempt
But every written line
Falls short
Of a final reveal
It is what we feel
And know to be true
That will release us
From mundanity
Lift us higher
Than we thought to be
Love is the key
To set the spirit free
