There is a fragility
There is a fragility
To life
It is easy to miss
In the hurly burly
As bright young things
Do battle
With their belief the world
Belongs to them
Taking the past apart
Throwing it all away
Dismissing its relevance
In a modern setting
When the pace
Never slows.
If you stop
It is harder
To catch up
There is no space
For sympathy
No time for goodbye
Leisure is structured
To ensure
Minimum disruption
To the working day
Unless an alternative
Lifestyle is embraced
Food for the soul
Not for the table
The language is changed
The spirit dwells within
The body
Not in a glass
Take a yoga class
Find neutral ground
Meet in the middle
Or pass as strangers
On a different path
Plot a life course
Use a graph
Consult a Guru
Find a way
Learn to laugh
At the absurd nature
Of this situation
When some people
Work through their lunch
Never take a vacation
And others just live
For the fun
Of every day
And still they believe
When all is done
What they have to say
Is the only living way
How can they be so sure
Either way is a cure
Must one be wrong
For one to be right
You must work rest
And play
But if a bill is not paid
Someone will turn out
The light.
