There is always forgetting
There is always forgetting
To hinder the truthteller,
The intention of well-meaning
As self-interest trumps ethics.
Nobody questions a barefaced lie
Delivered by an honest face
Just another day on the fence.
We spend so long moving our bowels
There is no time left for an early start
To the process of hand washing
One step removed from wringing
But no closer to taking responsibility
For the state of play.
The Age of Reason
Was never meant to be an end game.
Whatever is meant by progress
When the only improvement
Lies in the margin.
There is nothing artificial
About Intelligence
Unless it is illegally obtained.
The offset of my carbon is contained
Within the context
Of a deep breath,
A release of natural gas
A sigh of acceptance
A silent prayer
Even for the atheist.
The agnostic is always doubtful
Of the outcome
But ever willing to stand by
As the ship goes down
Confident the lifeboat
Will contain sufficient room
For the carefully prepared,
Philosophical discussion
With a foreword by Descartes
On the why’s and wherefore’s
Of Existence.
It is in the nature of things,
All things come to pass
And I am left to question my own standpoint
From a different perspective
When so many among us
Fail to question their own.
