There is happiness

lossnaturemusicmemorytimelove

There is happiness

In the twinkle of an eye

A lover’s sigh

A child laughing

In the rain

Jumping in and out

Of a puddle

Again and again

The swoop of an eagle

From a deep blue sky

The tinkle of music

Through an open window

On a dark night

With the smell of whisky

And smoke

Old times

Drifting on the blues

Dancing shoes

Clean white sheets

On a new bed

A kiss in the dark

Hot blood

Sympathetic breathing

Casual comfort

Is there happiness

For more than a moment

Before it is gone

Is it any more

Than a memory

Of something

Once had

However briefly

And the relief you feel

To have known it

At all.
