There is no finality

lossmusictimeloveidentitymortality

There is no finality

Just a change of state

The closure we seek

Is just the opening of another door.

We walk in shadow

Seeking the light

Hoping to find an answer

To the burning of dreams

The broken melt of hearts

Seeking our healing

Even as pain remains.

We may learn

Of new ways to be

And shuffling feet

May find a rhythm again

But in this reluctant growth

We are followed

By the ghost of loss

All we can do

Is protect ourselves

From its crippling

Consequence.

In sleep there is only now

What was and will be, is…

The confusion of thoughts

We try to avoid

Coalesce,

The need

For understanding is lost

We have a dream

And the truth of this

Consumes all actuality

Until the dawning

Break of days.

Time does not

Erase memories

But alters their perception

Softens every image.

The wither of age

Will never visit

A needful remembrance

That without

The daze of confusion

Will remain

Even in the passing of years.

It is only when the love

We carry is shared

Will it bring protection,

Comfort steady progress

Accompany mindful passage

And bring a surge of completion

To our journey.
