There is no fixing

timemortality

There is no fixing

A clean break

Tectonic plates shift

Imperceptibly everyday

Bones may heal

But in fusion there is disruption

A cellular change

A misalignment

That will remain

Even as the joint

Grows strong

There is no stitch

In time

No saving nine

The fabric is not to be

Invisibly mended

We do not tear down

The curtain

Heavily weighted

Evenly pleated

An endless veil

Drawn across a great divide

There is no smooth passage

From one edge to the next

It takes a rupture

A clean break

A seismic shift

An imperceptible switch

For a simple fracture

To be complete

A hair’s breadth

Wider than a mile.
