There is no return

politicsmemorytimeidentitymortality

There is no return

To yesterday

No amount of wishing

Will make it so

Time may not be linear

It might bend

With the influence of

Gravitational waves

The confluence of

Now and then

Is never a smooth

Transition

There is a degree of friction

The promotion of heat

The appearance of

A warm glow

Masking the flow

Of time from one

State of rest to another

Even as we wait

For the conclusion

Of one cycle

Another has started

Before the clocks

Have changed

There is no solstice

Just a night of long days

Bring me unto the morrow

An impossible task

But there will always be

The ghost of yesterday

The purpose of today

Is not to spurn

But to learn

That we might progress

From one moment to the next

And still know

Who we are.
