You wander

lossnaturecitymusicpoliticsmemory

You wander

In and out

With barely space

Enough to breathe

Squeezing through

Closed doors

Bolted to keep some things out

Some things in

Drifting with little purpose

It seems

Soundless clouds

Saffron coloured

Bleeding as the sun sets

Never do they stop

To pass the time of day

Wary are we

Of silence

It says so much

With little need

Of reinterpretation

Wait a while

Before parting

I am lost

In the shadow of a smile

Watching as the sun

Is muted

Swallowed by the hunger

Of the night sky

Closing an envelope

Sealed with stardust

Filled with

Memoried ashes

Scattered before

Rainfall

When the ground was dry

And every step

We made was followed

By a dance of

Dust motes

Barely visible

Until the ghost

Of a dream

Passed by

Catching the eye

With its lingering

Attraction

Of yesterday

Even as iron curtains

Were drawn

And light gave way

To darkness.
