Walking barefoot

lossnaturecitypoliticsmemorytime

Walking barefoot

Through a blizzard

Of cherry blossom

Blowing lazily

On the breeze

Carpeting the ground

Soft as Eiderdown

Touching toes

In a rock pool

Filtering sand between fingers

Every moment lingers

Simple things

Gazing out

Across the sea

At Lindisfarne

Watching as it becomes

An island

Adrift in the swirl

Of history

Rooted in the mystery

Of the ancients

Living in harsh times

Upturned boats

And smoke houses

Selling fish

At the Abbey

Bartering with the hoi polloi

It is all gone now

But the broken homes

Still remain

As photo opportunities

Remembering is easy

Frame by frame

Then there was the kiss

Under moonlight

A string of lanterns

Reflected in a warm sea

Sweet bliss

Every moment lingers

As my fingers turn the pages

Of our lives

In Kodachrome

Lost in daydreams

Love survives.
