We are separated
citytimeidentitymortalitysolitude
We are separated
By degrees
Gossamer thin membranes
Strong as steel
Armour plated
Covering old scars
Delicate dispositions
Overprotected
By and large
After the fact
As painful encounters
Fester in sepsis
The hot flush
Of cognition
Impaired
Seeking an escape
Rooted in imagination
Pretending to know
All of the answers
Before they were ever asked
It is an age-old problem
An embarrassment
Of sorts
Epic stories will be told
Of the confrontation
We avoided
Keeping self unto self
Disappearing into a despond
Of isolation
Whilst existing
A fingerprint away
From recognition.
