What good am I
musictimeidentitymortality
What good am I
Can my worth be counted
In hard currency
Is there any residual benefit
In continuance
When final deeds
Are weighed
Will I be found wanting
Broken down
Will I salt the earth
Bring forth goodness
From decay
Is that all the value
I can bring
To bear on progress
Is it enough to satisfy
The observers
Whomever they may be
Let them build
New foundations
From nature’s loam
Perhaps my soul
Will be set free
When I sing
With angels
Do they watch over me
Or is that another story
Told to seed
The world with
True believers
When the cycle
Is repeated
We are lifeblood
The future grows
Within us
Come what may
Lay me down
And let me be.
