When a white sun hangs

naturepoliticstimeidentitymortalitysolitude

When a white sun hangs

In a bleaching sky

With no chance of rain

The air too dry

Children left alone to die

For want of freedom

When the rich man

Does what rich men can

Takes all he wants

In both hands

Until it all

Spills out

Scattered all around

Like grains of sand

All you can say

Is let us pray

And everything

Is as it should be

For a reason...

It might be treason

But let us pray,

Please let us pray

Will not pay

For better healthcare

Cure the iniquity

Of what ails us

Create equal opportunity

Free from fear

Open eyes

That do not see

The one who turns away is me

Every time a

Child is left to cry

Another piece of us will die

The world is not a toy

A rich man’s plaything

A baby girl

Or boy

Left to fend

For itself

But listen

As snowflakes glisten

On homeless souls

Huddled together

For shelter

And in good faith

Just for today

Let us pray

Let us pray.
