White doves fly

lossnaturemusiclovemortalitysolitude

White doves fly

In peaceful skies

Fish jump from crystal water

Close to the shore

Scales glinting in the sun

Count them, everyone

As ripples flow

Unto the sea wall

Lapping gently

A musical accompaniment

An undercurrent

Of natural progression

Even as Kookaburras laugh

Locked together

In habituation

At the absurdity

Of humanity’s foolish notion

In the superiority of species

When will we learn

To leave well alone

Listen to the stars

Whispering in the dark

Telling stories

Of shipwrecks

And lost love

Curiosity is a beguiling

Curse

It sends white doves

Flying freely

Over far horizons

Looking for landfall

What would the world

Be like

Without it.
