Words are not enough
Words are not enough
No matter how they sound
What patterns they form
The intricacies of meaning
Leading to an understanding
Are still misleading
In their description
Of a feeling
There is too much emotion
Invested in an answer
To stem the disappointment
As an underlying shadow
Bleeds away
The agony of doubt
Lost beneath
An avalanche of explanation
An emptiness
Of unfulfilled potential
The timelessness
Of sorrow
The hollow echo
Of an absence
Weighed down
By a hungry beast
A never sated burden
An overactive hypothalamus
Feeding
An endless fight
With flight
When suffering is a fact
Of life
As much as breathing
Ecstasy is a word
With little reference
To its context
Happiness a fugue state
Of mindful
Mindlessness
When all is done
The world is broken
People are too absorbed
In the belief
We are all born free
To realise
How illogical
An illusion life can be
Its intrusion
So insubstantial,
When a prime construct
As bold as love
Impacts a simple concept
Plainly labelled, pain
Both
So easily
Exceed the parameters
Of a self-inflated ego
To explain
