Is it all worth

lossnaturecitypoliticsmemorytime

Is it all worth

The posturing

Playing to the gallery

Making false promises

With barely enough

Substance to cover the lie

If anybody cares to try

To see beneath it

There are more ways

To skin a cat

Than one

At least cats know when

To find a place to die

Out of the harsh light

I found mine

After two weeks

She was called Rover

And died before I could

Get her to the vet

It is never easy

When you love a pet

There are two sides in a face-off

Nobody believes

They are not Jekyll

But Mr Hyde

We all think we are good

On the inside

My bunker is bigger than yours

Hunker down and wait it out

How will we know

When we finally emerge

Only our side will remain

There are no winners

In a war of attrition

Only the machine

Will survive

The operator will forget

What it was like

To be free

Making mistakes

Like you and me

Two hundred years or more

For the sun

To be worshipped again

Who knows then

For whom the wind will blow

When the time comes

Will it all be worth it

Will there be seed to sow

Will new hope grow

When difference is detected

Will we live together

Without fear

Or will we once again

Become infected

By the distaste

Of dictate, blind faith

And the tyranny

Of hate.
