You have not gone

losslovemortality

You have not gone

I contain you

All that came forth

Unto now

The broken promises

Treaties made

Alliances brought to bear

Discoveries borrowed

Bodies buried

In mass graves

Suicides never watched

Emotions never rescued

Until consciences

Were weighed against

Progress

Giants and prophets

Too easily toppled

In favour of a quick return

I am all of you

The peacemaker

Asking for tolerance

Misheard in the clamour

For superiority

The artists and poets ignored

The lovers rendered apart

As mismatches were proclaimed

In a jealous rage

By zealots and bigots

Partnered in hatred

Of the difference

Between one thing

And another

You have not gone

I contain you all

You are my sister

I am your brother

We are connected

In more than terminology

Lost in bureaucracy

Our impact is dissipated

In varying degrees

To maintain

A status quo

No one wants to own

Stripped to the bone

We are reliant on

The good grace

Of the receptive

To remind us

The human race

Is a collective

Of like minds

And I contain

You all.
