Acceptance
Acceptance
It is a struggle to
Allow for ambiguity
The unasked question
A thankless word unspoken
Left to hang in the air
Frozen
Falling silently like rainfall
In a petrified forest
Spitting on a hotplate
Dancing for a meagre supper
Like a dog for Pavlov
Singing the praises
Of an enemy to appease
The dreamers
Seeing a cross outlined on a window
Before it is dismissed
As a sign
You don’t believe in Jesus
Does he believe in you
See how that runs
Off the tongue as easily as a lie
From the mouth of a spy
In a penny dreadful
Proof that words are never enough
Nobody really knows
The truth of conviction
Until its boundaries are breached
Pain has a way of invading privacy
Prying its way through the layers
Opening the mind
To the torture of forgiveness
When often, the preference is
Not for understanding
But of oblivion
