Futureproofing

Futureproofing

What is it you bring?

Is it the mere fact of you

The divinity of being

Would it need

A propaganda of cardinals

To recognise your worth

Pray that you exist

Is there an uncertainty

Of truth

An abundance of doubt

Enough to shed light

On a different outcome

Other than that of acceptance

Of the choice we make

To proceed

Proof of life

Comes in short breaths

As we huddle together

Beneath the weight

Of our joint enterprise

We have coined our terms

Labelled our success

Just as we have discarded

The reminders of past

Indiscretion

The fruits of failure

Are laid to waste

In our haste to rewrite

History

What is it we bring

To the party

Politic

With all good grace

Humanity will prevail

So it says in the brochure

There is no place

For counter-culture

In newspeak

When what we are worth

Is measured in bitcoin

Who will look upon

A naked face

And behold us

As more than a pound

Of flesh

A balance of profit

Or the curse of loss.
