Cloud haze

lossnaturemusicmortalitydrumming

Cloud haze

Slowly billows

The colour of smoke on a battlefield

Heavy with sadness

Rolling in filth and soot

Muddy from the splash

Of a wet wild wind

An explosion of thunder

A fusillade of raindrops

Pounding the rooftops

Peppering pavements

Frightening people

Who run for cover

As ice hails down

Drumming on tin roofs

Shattering windows

The release of carbonised

Remains

From rogue particles

Ash transported

From bushfires

Desecrating pristine lawns

Finely drawn borders

Not immune to the wildness

Bringing death

To a cemetery

An elementary school

A white wedding

Sullied by an

Unwelcome guest

Darkening the mood

Windblown scars

Toxic waste

Pyroclastic droplets

Soiling the neighbourhood

With every cloudburst

A funeral procession

Lifted up

And deposited

Here

From somewhere

Else

Over the rainbow.
