Do you hear the music
lossmusicmemorylovesolitudedrumming
Do you hear the music
Does it still play
Long after the song has gone
Filtering through the empty room
Absorbed into every wall
Reflected in
Flickering light
From a glitterball
Turning slowly
Casting a pale glow
Across a dance floor
Scuffed by the shuffle
Of a backbeat
So many feet
Pointing toe to toe
How many were lovers
Drawn together
Enveloped in rhapsody
Synchronised
In free form
Blued in shadow
Casting a silhouette
Against a backdrop
Of gaslit
Crystal cut chandeliers
Wax candles
Placed on tiny tables
Smoke stained ceilings
Infused with the memory
Of all the music
Ever played
Seeping through the velvet
A melody of whispers
In a semaphore
Of silence
Do you hear the music
From the outside
Or the inside.
