Do gods smile

naturecitytimemortality

Do gods smile

Do they laugh

Share a joke

Over a pint

And a packet of crisps

They might even smoke

A stogie

Immortal is as immortal does

The beer lies cold

In the ice box

Children play

At being free

As the air crackles

With electricity

One thousand horses

Race around the track

Chariots of Fire

Burning footprints

Into the tarmac

Rubber soled

Wizardry

Pilots on parade

Too fast

To pick up a ticket

The boys in blue

Will catch

The stragglers tomorrow

Driving a pickup

With a rust bucket

For a tailpipe

The footappers

Will have a shindig

Dancing at midnight

Walking in the park

Catching their reflection

In the water

Black swans

Hoping for a moment

Of proximity

To the eternal

Whilst the man

In the moon has seen it

All before.
