Even through the noise
Even through the noise
Do you hear it?
A leaf blower
Drowning out the birdsong
Whining like a hobbled goat
Tied to a stake
It eats the grass just the same
Better for the environment
The intrusion
Of mechanics
And the pointlessness
Of pushing against the tide,
Is a distraction
From the diversity of nature
Birdsong and good husbandry.
I remember how easy it is
To become fixated
Sticking rigidly
To old ways of thinking
Lacking the integrity
To take affirmative action
Refusing to go with the flow
I remember the story
In the book
Sodom and Gomorrah
Lott’s wife
A pillar of salt
Why?
Really?
For being inquisitive
Seems a bit harsh
I forget her name,
Typical,
Unnamed.
Just for a change
The women get the blame
Jezebel’s and deceivers
Bloomin’ disbelievers
The lot of them
Whoops do you see
What I did there?
That was easy
Misogyny
In a bible story
Who would have thought it
Tell it to the children why don’t you
They need a lesson
In patriarchal bloodlust
And masochistic violence
It helps oil the wheels
Of sedition.
