In a monsoon summer

naturemusicpoliticstimelovemortality

In a monsoon summer

With the sun high

In a cobalt sky

After the storm

Has dissipated

Weakened leaves fall

There is sadness

In the slow tumble

Frailty in their

Brittle fragility

Lacking the richness

Of autumn colours

There is no last kiss

Of surrender

Dried husks frozen

In full sun

Crumbling into dust

Under protest

Leaving a dirt brown stain

On a white marble

Cold stone

Facsimile of

Winter snow

How do I know

Angels will weep

For me

There are no tears

In heaven

Nothing is as it seems

Even a leaf

Is mourned

In its moment

Of passing

From one Planetree

Unto the next.
