In my eyes

naturemusicmemorymortalitysolitude

In my eyes

light is caressed

Softly gleaming

Filtered through

A different lens

Offset

Slightly out of focus

A drunkard’s squint

Just after the bottle

Has been thrown

Another breakage

Never to be recycled

Pour me out

I am not a teapot

Everything seen

Is a memory

Of something familiar.

Relevance, a relative term

Changeable as shadow

Dependent on the sun

Traversing the heavens

Chasing the stars away

Where do they go

Foreshortening

Stretching

Pulling me out

Is it possible

To see the same thing twice

How will I know

When will I perceive

The concept of you

Unless the rules change

There is no turning back

But what of Thomas

Who stayed his doubt

Is that proof

Enough.

In my eyes

The world is an empty place

Laced with the failed

Scent of temptation

A faint hint of allure

Should I resist

The obvious charm

Of acceptance

Perhaps a little one

Will do no harm

Drink with me

We may not pass this way again.
