There is no fairness

musicmemorytimemortality

There is no fairness

Only the probability

Of change

There is no imbalance

Pain has no conscience

See how it flourishes

All the better in troubled times

When least expected

The floor can fall

From beneath your feet

A stock market

Algorithm

Is not infallible

It can miss a collapse

Make a prediction

If you care

Worship at the altar

It is buried in the bear pit

Tied up in a bundle

Of silk shirts

And bright red braces

Which allow trousers

To hang more securely

Without the need

To hitch them up

Count your blessings

Take benediction

With your Chardonnay

Life is an opportunity

Grasp it

As it flies by

There are no request stops

No loyalty cards

To give double points

Or concessions

For arthritic joints

A lifeline

Can slip through

Outstretched fingers

Palms can be greased

It is a free for all

Even the strongest

May not survive

A cull

There is no ledger

With one page full

And nothing written

On the other side

Lose your footing

Cause a landslide

There is no luck

Just a chance

And a judgement call

When some might say

That is no real chance at all.
