It seems so long ago

naturecitytimeloveidentitymortality

It seems so long ago

Before the flood

When the sky was

A wonder

Lightly washed with hazy

Lazy cotton tops

Easy to imagine

Unicorns and angels

Playing tag

Innocent days

Before the rainbow

Was exposed

As wavelengths of light

Refracted through

Brief precipitation

Heading for a fall

Treasure enough

In its way

The jagged strike

The rip of thunder

No more than the world deserves

Retribution is not for dreamers

Scratch the skin

There is no tumbledown effect

Or blood letting

Just the bones of life

Held in place

With the chains

Of an old soul

Excluding the way

To a delicate heart

Open the gate

It was

Locked and barred

Against intruders

But is loosely hinged

A good shake

Could bring it

Crashing down

Look at the sky

It is full of dancing horses

Whipped into a frenzy

Of animation

Fragility uncovered

Has a mind to vary angles

And change perspective

Throw me a rope

Drown me in hope

Deepen my understanding

After so many years

Spent kidding myself

A little exposure

May bring out

The best in me.
