Rhubarb.
Birds sing
They squawk and talk
Chit chat about this and that
Covetting nesting sites
Swallows have aerial fights
As crows win the war
Dogs have conversations
Across the fence
Lone wolves howl
Tigers growl
And startled Brown snakes hiss
Lovers kiss
On the back porch
Caught in the sweep
Of a Policeman’s torch
Children ignore
Angry whispers
In the dark
Drugs change hands
In the park
Nobody stops
To look at the stars
Or opens their cars
To the wind
Nobody hears
The sound of your tears
And no one
Is troubled to listen
