Savage heart

griefnaturemusicmemorylovemortality

Savage heart

Still beating

Relentlessly

Pursuing an ending

Hunting down

The last remnant

Of curiosity

Torn from the book

Of childhood

Before night falls

Hellbound

Into the starless sky

Where haggard

Are the bones

Of the weary

Bleached white

In perpetuity

For want of colour

Demanding nothing

But recognition,

For the sins

Of their undoing

Were written

In afterthought

As the world turned

Its back

That it may not see

The corpuscular

Corruption

Of dark hearts

Beating a retreat

As prisoners

Of conscience rage

Against a cage

Of their own

Making.
