Small mercies.

Small mercies.
The motion of a Hummingbird
Inching back and forth
Wings barely visible
A blur of purposeful activity
Sunlight striking a stickleback
Darting in shallows
Tickled into a jam jar
Sliding out before the lid shuts
The dance of a Mayfly
Song of a skylark
Arc of a rainbow
Full face of the moon
The call of a lonely wolf
Carried on the wind
Is the answer
Nothing more than an echo
A gradual fade into silence
Bouncing to and fro
The sound barely audible
Until lost in this reverie
A thing of beauty
A moment of clarity
The lack of charity
In nature
Is perfect poetry
With only one solitary goal
To feed the hungry soul.
