So many good folk
So many good folk
Easily led
Told to wear masks
Stay indoors
Have a weekend at home
To act as a breaker
They eat crisps
And take to bed
There is no fight left
To give the state a hard time
Images of insurrection
Play out on flat screens
Not in my back yard
Is left unsaid
But not without satisfaction
Smug old worlders
Shake their heads
With told you so smiles
There is nothing great
About hate
Something quite sad
About confusing
The plot of a good book
With real life
As the streets lie quiet
In Queensland
A world away
Democracy
Is given a kick in the head
As people lie dead
Of neglect
White privilege
Parades for the right
To act like children
Who have been caught
Out of school
Acting the fool
Pretending to be grown-ups
Without the sense to know
When to say no and go home
For goodness sake
Simmer down
Make a cup of tea
Have a piece of cake
Be thankful for clean water and electricity
Dream in colour
Work hard
And stay lucky
