The firefly

naturecitymemorytimemortality

The firefly

Is a fleeting presence

A sparkle in the darkness

Winking on and off

A passion play of

Stop go motion a

City wide nightscape

The aurora borealis

In miniature

Illuminating wildflowers

In sequence

What happens to light

Once dispersed

Are we the enlightenment

A sole beneficiary

Of understanding

We are what we are

Is that not enough

To broker a more beneficial

Interpretation

Of meaning

Than this

When the request

Is bartered

For a quieter life.

Where will all

The shooting stars fall

When dreamers

Close their eyes

Who will listen

To the passage of time

As it whispers goodbye

Walk in the moonlight

Hear the first born cry

Follow the path

The roebuck makes

As it looks for a mate

In the morning mist

Sail with me

Trace your passage

Across an ocean

To a place where

Fireflies live forever.
