There is nothing brave here
There is nothing brave here
As the day draws on
It is biology
Fuelling the movement
From one crisis
Of confidence
To another
As the eagle flies
Far from home
Following its own shadow
Seeking displacement
In the hollows
An indiscretion
In the afternoon
There is pause,
A momentary shift
In balance
Before the plummet
To the ground
Tooth hits claw
In a frenzy of victory
And vanquished
Blood splashed feathers
Scarlet on stone
It is not bravery
But biology
One step in front of the other
Everyday
Even as the reason
Bears little scrutiny
There is no grand scheme
But an ever decreasing
Series of choices
Some made easier
With fewer mistakes
Moderate success
Construed as a plan
There is no direct route
Way out, exit sign
Or road map
No stardust crushed
Into the soles of our feet
Just a wild stumble through
A human jungle
Realised, as predator
Or prey
This is not bravery
But biology
What else would we do…
Care...love...share?
