There was an ease
musicpoliticsidentitymortality
There was an ease
About the nature
Of the dismissal
Nothing of consequence
Would come from this
As if
He thought himself
Untouchable
Social standing
White male privilege
Centuries of certainty
To buttress his claim
With no witness or
Supporting evidence
His word was law
It was to be expected
The weight of expectation
Lay elsewhere
Proof was a burden
He sought not to carry
Truth a flexible friend
A member of the club
No handshake required
Secret or otherwise
Presumption
Of innocence
A watchword
All for one
A byword
When one is on
The inside
There is no equality
In patriarchy
No hope
In a male trope
Excusing wanton
Behaviour
On juvenile high jinks
Stinks.
Of Kickbacks
And a slap in the face
To blind justice.
