Too many vampires

naturepoliticstimeloveidentitymortality

Too many vampires

Heartless and fanciful

Living in shadow

Wearing black hats

And Gucci loafers

Too many to shove a stake into

For all we try

To find a way to clear the decks

Of evil

It sprouts up

Through the cracks in

The carapace

Winds itself

Into the heart of life

The unwary traveller

The blind leading the blind

There is always a Gollum

To carry the curse

Willingly

Greedily

Wrapping themselves

In a black flag

No Surrender

There is no respite for the poor

Sickly creatures

Who lie in fear of one another

Too many souls

Seeking an escape

Tearing at their own eyes

Living with hate

As a poisonous parasite.

Without virtue

The weak are easy prey

Stalk me

I will give you a fright

Even as the moon disappears.

I might be bat-shit crazy

But I will put up a fight

As will many

In the pale moonlight

It is always a trial

To last until daybreak

Even as the blood flows

There is a river to

Negotiate

Hold the bridge

It is there to help the few

Make way

For the many
