Tough guys don’t cry.

Tough guys don’t cry.

Nobody knows,

Nothing is ever given away,

Not willingly

Weakness is not for show.

Internal doubts

Drown the echo of despair,

Self delusion

Filled the well of good will

Dug to fall into,

In the belief it would rinse

An old soul clean,

And out of this cleansing

Life could begin again.

But it just continues

Until the end,

There are no fanfares,

Whistles, flags or bells.

Only voices lost in hollows

You believed were

Deeply hidden

And so cleverly soundproofed,

Nobody else

Could hear their cries,

Only you.

But people have suffered

From your inaction.

Those you have loved,

Their lives

Refracted by the distortion

Mirrored in your eyes,

Misted and bloodshot now,

Grown tired of their role

In the suppression

Of a story,

Ghostly written, by omission.

True expression

Disfigured by the lies

They were detailed to disguise.

The weight of tears

Unshed, keeps growing,

Once upon a day

The most well intentioned dam

Will burst,

And what a day that will prove to be.

The best one ever,

Or the worst.

Who knows.
