Weekly Challenge 25th of October to 1st of November SLOP

All Hallows…

When the veil

Between dimensions

Is thinnest

You might wonder

What is life

But a meaningless,

Daily occurrence.

Such a small thing

A flicker, not even

A power surge

On a recording device

And still,

The world is transformed.

Nothing really changes

But the perception of it.

Is that a miracle?

The fact it can happen

A simple act

The merest shift in

A universe of molecules

And it is made so.

Is that proof of life

And if it is

Do I in fact…live?

I believe I may have,

Once upon a time

Long ago,

When I may have counted

And been found wanting.

Is that all of it?

I was a name

And a number…

But which one

Had precedence…?

We all have tags

And they follow

Wherever we go

Should we lose our selves

Along the way,

And that can happen.

The older we get

Choices diminish

Until there is nothing

Left but the drift

Between one thing

And the other.

A miasma

Where not even the

Spirit of tomorrow

Can protect us

From the ghosts

Of our past.

Listen awhile

And you can hear

Poor old Jacob Marley

Rattling his chains.

Is that proof of death,

Or is this all

Just a temporary

State of mind,

An elaborate fabrication?

If it is

I would rather go blind

Than be denied

A chance

To see what might lie

In wait

Should I prevail,

And find rapprochement

Beyond,

This thin grey veil.
