What do they know

naturepoliticstimelovesolitude

What do they know

With their twist and turn

This way and that

Aerial acrobatics

On the wing

Freestyle gymnasts

Birds of a feather

Cavorting in close harmony

Even as rituals

Are contested

Nests always neatly made

They survive.

The cold stare of a crow

Warms the heart

Of a fledgling

Summer is a breeze

Will a black dog

Ever be depressed

The Whippoorwill

Know what it means

To be lonely.

As the Night draws in

The Wolf howls

Hoping for an answer

How do bats fly

In the dark

Without a white stick

To guide them

What brings a Salmon

Safely home

To its own beginning

What do they know?
