What is relevant?
What is relevant?
Is it always so obvious
The solution to a problem
So easily known
As to be a waste of words
Relayed in a loop
Of constant repetition.
If knowledge
Is an old story
So often heard
Then why impart it.
If in the teaching
There are questions
Newly brought to light
Is it to them we speak.
Do we seek wisdom
And hope old words are
Heard anew
By younger blood
Given a fresh sheen of relevance
In the telling.
Is it all a matter
Of impression
A targeted audience
Seeking definition
When truths are so vague
In shape and outline
As to be a construct
More probable than
The tail of a fairy.
Who will be defined
The teller or the told
When attribution
Of responsibility
For listening
Is passed from one
Blind spot to another.
What will we learn
When to the open mind
Nothing counts
But a moment of
Honest delivery.
In that brief interface
Between what was
And will become.
Is it only then
In a finite space
Of possibility and wonder
That we discover
Ourselves conceived as
Ever truly relevant.
