Will you wait?
Will you wait?
Is there a gate post to lean on?
Maybe you need to rest,
Sit down, please
You would barely bend the grass.
I can see you
Through the haze
Of the cherry blossom,
Blowing lightly
On the breeze.
It is as beautiful now
As it ever was.
Pinkish tears that
Roll across the face
Of the sky,
Tumbling to the ground
Imperceptibly.
A soft carpet
A colour-some shroud
Deeply velvet,
Inviting your softness
To be comforted
In a bloodless embrace.
You look troubled
I never meant to intrude
But do not know where else
To go,
This is the only way
Although the path is unclear
The distance between us so great
The glimpse I get so tantalising
As to be perfect
It drives me on.
I fear you will have gone
Before I get there
What will happen then?
Will there be a gathering
Of lost souls
A bureau of exchange
I line of hopefuls
Clutching the ragged pieces
Of a broken heart.
The displaced and regretful,
Hoping for closure
Or perhaps a re-opening.
What do I know?
Other than I see you
And it is my place
To be
In your company
When the time comes
And that is as much
As I know.
I need no more.
