What was the intention

citypoliticsmemoryloveidentity

What was the intention

Of this odyssey?

Too often the trail

Has been obscured

Waylaid by distraction

Hampered by indecision

Hindered in progression

Toward an understanding

Of its meaning

By the siren’s call

The rush of blood

That accompanies

Short term gratification

The ecstatic release

Of an easy sway

The romance of the moment

To determine a sense

Of my own direction

Would that it was laid bare

Set apart from this

Roughly hewn entanglement

A grotesque jumble

Of half completed

Conquests

As ill-conceived as any

Herculean task

Ever left undone

A labyrinthine

Discovery

More than partially

Self-generated

In totality

Though too often

Willfully neglected

To be wholly appreciated

As a choice neither well

Nor ill-made

But rather taken

For better or for worse

It is my curse

Along with many others

Lovers, sisters and brothers.
