August 22, 2017Poem
You would tell me
identitymortality
You would tell me
Without question
No retreat
For an easy life
No agreement
For the sake of peace
Nothing left unsaid
When to stay silent
Would be to agree
Tacitly with something
Less than perfect
Discomfort me
Twinkle toes are better when
Exercised with
Dedication
To the truth
You kept me on them
Though care was always
Taken to sugar the pill
When unconvinced
Of an outcome
You would find a way
To say it
An honest expression
In good conscience
With generosity of spirit
No mean bone
Is a godsend
In the end
Before the naysayers
Have their way
To nitpick
Only the best
Will be good enough
I am still grateful
You thought that of me
Even for a short while
I can even hear you now
It makes me smile.
