Where is beauty

griefnaturemusicmemorytimelove

Where is beauty

To be found

In this darkened room

An escape from the rain

I have no doubt

But empty of inspiration

Drained of life

Squeezed, hollowed of love

In truth

There are reminders

In the comfort of surroundings

The trappings of life

Mirrored in reflection

Of a beauty

Once known

Thankfully a greater love

With which

In fond memory

To take solace

As the only reason

For a continued connection

To the everyday

Nothing is greater

Than a sorrow

Carried deeply

Cradled in sweet rapture

Eased only by the presence

Of children

Honeyed in

Natural sweetness

Innocent love

Freely given

A salve to soothe the sorried soul

Even as the freezing shadow

Of a calumny

Would argue a situation

Could be,

So easily worse

A dark mood is deepened

By such an intervention

The knowledge

Of poorer folk

Drowned in desperation

Who suffer such deprivation

As to make a

Merely dampened spirit

Seem heaven sent

Bald comparison

Only serves to harden

Low self opinion

It is what creates

A loathing

Holding its prisoner

To ransom

With coarse ragged breath

Souring the sweetness

Of the air

Delivering unto us

A cloud of purgatory

A perpetual haze

Beneath which

This frail presence

Is softly weeping

For the return

Of beauty,

Unshadowed days

And in all good conscience

The healing rays

Of a fastly rising sun.
