Airport smells
losscitypoliticstimeloveidentity
Airport smells
Burnt coffee beans
A blend of body odour
Brewed in men’s urinals
Brings tears to the eyes
Chronic intoxicant
The world in transit
Crumpled looks
And sleepy heads
Dreamily drooping
Onto ample bosoms
Overstuffed
With fast food slow cooked
Into a pulled this
A flame-grilled that
The late arrivals
Creating a fuss
As the gate is closed
On their protestations
Airport insecurity
Raised to danger levels
Travel is an arrangement
In jeopardy
Of a late arrival
A misdirected departure
Misplaced luggage
Lost souls
Looking for a signal
To say hello
Goodbye
A cardboard sign
With I love you
Written in lipstick
Old school
Communication
Finding its home
In the right heart.
